Guess Who: Five Brands we All Recognize by their Logo
There are many brands around the world that you’d be able to recognize simply by seeing their logo. We have decided to pick five of them, from various industries, that we are one hundred percent sure you would know – unless you were living in the Amazonian jungle for the last decades. And since we mention the region: Amazon won’t be featured, as we picked logos without the name written on it. So, can you guess which companies they are?
Four Circles United
You see this one on the roads you travel every day. Their cars are emblematic of the future and have been for a long time, as in the movie “Minority Report” with Tom Cruise, shot almost twenty years ago. Have you guessed yet? The Audi logo represents one of the most popular brands of luxury cars today, but do you know why it has four circles attached to one another? In 1932, they joined with three other brands to survive the repercussions of the krach of 1929 (DKW, Horch and Wanderer). One circle per brand…
An Apple
Okay, this one is too easy. But it is exactly why it is on this list. Sometimes the best logo is simply the ones that relates precisely to the name of the company. The apple stands for Apple, one of the leaders in mobile phones and computers. We see the apple every day, even if we don’t have one of their products, as we are bound to come across someone using an Apple phone. So why naming a company “Apple”? Steve Jobs had just gotten back from an apple orchard and thought that name would be “fun, spirited and not intimidating.”
A Golden Arch
Just by the title you already know which company we are talking about. That really shows the power of a logo. It is true that, in this case, the company has been calling itself, at times, using the description of the logo: A “Golden Arch.” A McDonald’s logo is like a light at the end of a tunnel for many people, when they travel around the world. Its presence is comforting and you can be sure to see a Golden Arch, almost anywhere you go.
A Shell
Again, this one is a giveaway, since the image in the logo is also the name of the company. Shell has been a leader in petroleum products for a long time now, but before that, it was trading in another sector of industry. In fact, that is why it is called Shell, since they were in the seashell business…
A Crocodile
This one is cheating a little bit, because usually, their logo is accompanied by the name of the company. However, when you see this animal on a shirt, it is alone. Found it, right? Lacoste is a clothing brand you recognize immediately, thanks to its logo.
